Martinez,Cal.,April 3,1909.Dear Mrs. Arnold:I thank you for your kind and appreciative letter on our fight for the Yosemite National Park. The battle in the last session of Congress is won, although we shall have to continue to watch the efforts of the enemy planning and plotting in the dark.Ofcourse you know that you have my sincere sympathy in your heavyladen life.Plod on bravely as you have been doing, and be assured that all your loving care and kindness will at last find an exceeding great reward.I have just returned from the bedside of my daughter Helen, who is in the California Hospital at Los Angeles, convalescing from a sudden attach of a kind of typhoid fever. She is rapidly recovering and we hope that in a week or so she will be able to leave the hospital and soon be as well as ever. With renewed offers of any kind of help that I can give, believe me Ever Faithfully Yours,Mrs. Mary J. Arnold, Lakeport, California.[illegible]04471
