LAW OFFICESWILLOUGHBY RODMANROOMS 43T-440 CITIZENS NATIONAL BANK BLDG,LOS ANGELES, CALLos Angeles, March 31, 1909.Mr. John Muir,Pasadena, Cal.My Dear Mr. Muir:I write to extend to you a hearty and cordial invitation to attend the monthly banquet of the University Club of Los Angeles, April 8, 1909, at 6 P. M. We hope to be honored by the presence of Mr. John Burroughs. To have you two together at one of its meetings, would be a great event in the history of our club. We shall ask you to say a word or two, but shall not trespass upon your time to a great extent.I have derived so much pleasure, profit and inspiration from your talks, that I wish my club brethren to share the privilege with me.This invitation comes from me as director and chairman of the housing committee of the club, and. to it I add my own cordial and earnest request. As a member of the Sierra Club, as a citizen of California, and as a man, I have been more pleased than I can express by your efforts against the Hetch-Hetchy steal. You have done a noble work, and we are all proud of it, and of you.I earnestly hope you may be able to be with us. Kindly let me know if we may expect you.Very truly yours,[illegible]04464 [letterhead] Saturday morning [letterhead]My dear Mr Muir-May I add my word of importunate persuasion?
