Dear Mrs Muir:
I wrote you yesterday inviting yourself and Mr Muir to visit us on Saturday, but it is, with true disappointment and vexation that I write asking you to post pone it – but not for long time. Being a miserable woman I find myself unable to leave here this week – Truly there is a fatality over our coming together When does Mr Muir go away? Not very soon I hope. Accept my love, for his sake as I hope soon to have you for your own — With kindest regards to your Father and
