449February 4,.1909.Dear Mr. Muir:As you know, we are going to bring out a new edition of "Our National Parks" next fall, illustrated from photographs by Mr. Gleason. Thirty-two pictures are selected, which will illustrate the book very thoroughly we think. It has occurred to us that you may want to take the opportunity to revise the book in some way, bringing it up to date in certain passages where it may not describe accurately existing conditions, and perhaps adding a chapter giving an account of the more recent additions to the list of national parks and forest reservations. If you did not care to write a whole new chapter, perhaps the necessary information could be conveyed in a new preface. We think it would be greatly to the advantage of readers of the book to have it, brought up to date in some such way, and we very much hope that you, will feel inclined to adopt the suggestion. Please let us hear from you at your convenience, and accept the cordial good wishes of the writer and ofYours very truly,[illegible]Mr. John Muir.
