HOUGHTON MIFFLIN COMPANY4 PARK STREET BOSTONJan. 25, 1909.John Muir, Esq.,Dear Mr. Muir:We sent you the proofs of "Stickeen" several weeks ago, and all have come back except the last ten pages. You were so prompt with the rest that we feel sure that these last ten pages must have been overlooked by you or have been lost in the mail. As your changes in the other pages were so slight we are venturing to go to press with the book without waiting any longer. If, however, you did make, or do wish to make, any changes in these pages, if you will kindly telegraph us on receipt of this, it may be in time for us to stop the press.Yours very truly,Houghton Mifflin Company.[illegible]04412
