Sari Francisco, Dec. 22, 1908.[Illegible] Marston Esq.,San Diego, Cal.My Dear Mr. Marston:-I am enclosing you copy of a letter which we are sending to all of our friends, and which will give you an idea of the result we wish accomplished. It is very important that we should reach Congressman Smith through as many of his constituents as possible, and if you will aid us in this direction and get to your friends to write or wire him, without delay, it will assist very materially in the outcome.John Muir is leading this fight, and wishes me to make this personal request on his part as well. If it will do any good to have this enclosed circular printed and distributed as you think best, have it done at our expense. I have sent a similar letter to Mr. Chas. P.Douglass and Mr.Henry Palmer, and if it is possible to cooperate, I wish you would do so.The importance of immediate and rigorous action can not be overestimated. Wishing youths compliments of the season, I remainVery sincerely yours,
