Daggett, Sept - 18thDear PapaI just got your letter and was glad to hear from you. Im sorry that you cant come down and visit just now, but I understand how it is, so stay as long as you feel you ought to be up there, and Ill appreciate your visit all the more when you do come. Im well and happy and thats the main thing.I enjoyed our little trip up to04281 Mojave with Tom and Mary, and Mrs Funk and I reached Daggett safely on No. 8 this afternoon. I did enjoy the glorious stretch of desert between Barstow and Mojave - I was glad, as I rode along on No. 3 yesterday that I wasnt going to leave my desert - as Mary was. That shows what a hold it has on me.Inclosed are two things Mr John Van Dyke asked me to send to you as he did not know where you were now.The Goldberg Box was all right. You can send the other bye and bye.Lovingly Helen
