Darling Helen.
Sep.10/08 On way to city.[1908]
I got home from grand Klameth outing Monday eve. My! What a time I had so kind & hearty & full of work, I dictated over a thousand pages of M.S. mostly a hard rough confused mass judging by what I have examined in type-written copy Most is still in short hand & will be typed & forwarded to me from N.Y.
The Harrimans invited me to go on with thorn to Arden but business here & work would not allow such luxury & indulgence.Do you need money - fruit, anything? Let me know, & do you want me to visit you. I ought to get a lot of M.S. in some sort of order so I might carry it with me & work it into permanent shape wherever I may have to go. I hardly like the plan of wintering in the old home, but moving to Pasadena or Redlands seems a formidable job Wanda babe are well - so is Maggie & all the Alhambra families in general.
The weather here is blazing hot & thick with smoke, dust& mosquitoes, the latter the worst ever. The Colemans are all aboard for the circus. The Harrimans are anxious to have you with them next camp & at Arden, & when I told of your wonderful.R.R. knowledge & accomplishments Mr. H. said he would have to give you an official position of some sort.
I'm so glad you are keeping ahead toward sound health.Remember me to the Vans & Funks. I have delivered the Mayo deed & will settle up the business. The Valejo Junction patch of coast land is sold for a 1000, 1/2 thine.
Ever lovingly devotedly your
Father
