[1]Daggett, Aug. 2 - 08Dear PapaI received the deed and your letter yesterday. I will sign the deed and have it returned to you.Mr John Van Dyke came yesterday and expects to stay about two weeks. He said to tell you that he wants to know you and hopes you will come soon. He is a fine interesting man.All goes well here. The people here think the hot weather is04256 [3]cheered us all up, as usual, and the pineapple was the best ever - such a splendid ripe fine-flavored one. Tom's crate of peaches came too, and they also are mighty good. I ate six of them with milk for my breakfast this morning.Horse, dog and cats are well. Write when you are coming so someone can meet you.Always lovinglyHelen[2]about over now. It is very sultry most of the time with hot nights - no sudden changes. Dont worry about my going too far, that trip to Calico was the only excursion Ive taken, of any length, and I never ride any distance from the ranch without taking a coat. You can see a shower coming a long time before it reaches us, so get in before it hits.The fine box of Goldberg goodies reached us on No. 8 yesterday. Everything was in good shape. The candy
