July 1, 1908R.W.GILDER.EDITORR.U.JOHNSON.ASSOCIATE EDITOR. My dear Muir: Your letter reached me in Indina where I spent the week previous to the Chicago convention, which I also took in. It is always a great pleasure to hear from you and your loyal friendship is one of the comforts of my life. You speak of your "Yosemite book." I hope it is coming on rapidly. You ought to make it the aim of your life to finish up what you have to say about the National Park and all that region. I mean the book we have all been talking about for so long. Are you not engaged upon it? The older I grow the more I feel like concentrating on the accomplishment of a few things. I hope it all goes well with you in the family and I heartily wish you were coming East soonI send you herewith advance sheets of two editorials of mine, one in the July number, "Patriotism that Counts," a review of the White House conference.
