Martinez, Feb. 18, 1908Dear Mr Calkins,I'm glad Mrs Calkins is making good speed to perfect health. I saw Helen for a day on my way to the old home after leaving Pasadena. She is cheerful & hopeful & seems to be gathering strength. I mean to see her again as soon as I get rid of a miserable influenza cold that has been stupefying my lately.Ever since I got home I have been trying to arrange business affairs between Helen & Wanda so as to relieve me of the care of Helen's vineyards & orchard[s?] & I hope to succeed in my plan. Then we may be able to do something in literature. In the meantime, I'll keep you informed & hope for the best.Ever faithfully yoursJohn Muir09202
