We had a very pleasant visit with Mrs Foster not long since She came with her Son in law, we had not seen her for about twelve years so you may be sure we had a great many things to talk about, and they were much pleased with the scenery about the Bay.
Anna and the children are well, the children enjoying their holiday vacation and enjoying it.
I have been sick for some time but am gaining nicely and hope to be as usual before long.

Very Affectionately your sister

Sarah.

[in margin: In a letter Ette had from the Valley, she said you were coming home soon so I will address to Martinez]

My dear brother John: -

I could not send you and Helen the Seasons greetings as I did not know where to address you. We knew you were going away but did not know when, and later we were not sure of the new address. Dear brother I hope and pray that the change of climate may do much for Helen and that 1908 may hold much of happiness for you both and so a glad New Year, I wrote to Helen at Daggett

so perhaps we will hear from her and know how she is getting on, and perhaps something of how the country looks where she is stopping. She enjoys her own home so much I am sure it would be hard for her to leave it.
I heard from Maggie not long since and am glad she keeps somewhere near usual. She will be glad to have so many of her family near to her. When she wrote she said Wanda and her family were well. I hope that she, and you too may come here some

time for a change, I think you all would enjoy it. I am sending you some views along the coast, those shown in the photographs are on the drive not far off, the one on the card is quite near to us, where we go for a walk or to gather shells. The ground up from there, a pretty place is where the Pacific Improvement Co. presented the University of Calif. with five acres for their Laboratory, and other buildings necessary when they come to hold their summer school.
