I will probably leave the city today for the Tahoe region with Magee, spend a week there, then visit the Bidwells at Chico on my way back, then deliver my lecture, & pay you another visit, which I trust will result in our knowing each other better. I was at John Swett’s when the spicy apples arrived, which explains my tardiness in acknowledging the handsome toothsome gift. The William’s, Swett’s, Upham’s, & Payot’s all enquire kindly about the family, & are glad to hear that Mrs Strentzel is growing strong again. With honest thanks for your good advice I am ever yrs
