[letterhead]Miles Glacier, Copper River.Aug. 17, 1910.Mr John Muir,Dear Sir,Mr Hawkins has told me of your contemplated visit to the Copper River glaciers and I am writing to offer my services in visiting some of the glaciers and in entertaining you at my camp if you find it possible to visit me either here or at my Baird Glacier camp. Mr O'Neal of the camp will be able to tell by telephone just where I am at the time of your visit.I have been studying and mapping these ice tongues this summer and last for the National Geographic Society and have much to tell you of the Y[illegible] Bay and Prince William Sound glaciers as they have advanced and retreated since your visit in 1899. Do you know of the beautiful 8200 foot peak about Serpentine glacier in Harriman Fiord which has been named Mt Muir?Cordially yours,Lawrence Martin04850
