commenced work on my photography and carbon work, and as I think you must by this time have given my pictures of you all away, one of the first things I do will be to make and send you another dozen. Santa Claus has been very good to me this year. for not only did he remember me Xmas day but several presents have come since, and the gem of these all, was the little gem of a picture with its beautiful frame that you and Mr. Keith sent us. I am assuming that it came from you both from what you wrote me last summer. You

should not have done so because you have done so much for us already. but as I said in my letter to Mr. Keith, it makes one very happy to be remembered in so beautiful a way. that two very dear friends are thinking of us. And I assure you Mr. Muir that Al. and I often think and talk of you and one of our greatest regrets at not going to California this winter is, that we will

not see you. but we are going to have you here next summer if we have to go after you. I say we will not be out this winter, as Al. is enlarging his business and cannot well be spared. though we may make a flying trip with Mr. Robinson of the Santa Fe.
