THE WHITE HOUSEWASHINGTONJanuary 14, 1910.My dear Dr. Muir:I have your kind letter of January 8th and thank you sincerely for the good will and good wishes and personal confidence that it shows. I an passing through rather a strenuous time, but I hope that in the end pounding away along the right path will prove to be the best course politically. Whether it does or not, it is certain to be the best course for one's own comfort. If I go to Alaska this year it would gratify me very much to have you join me at Seattle and take the trip around. I am not sure that I can make the trip, as I am afraid Congress may be in session too late. But it would double the pleasure of the trip for Mrs. Taft and me if you could go.Sincerely yours,[Illegible]Dr. John Muir,Martinez, California.04682
