Dear Mr Johnson:
The book you sent has not yet reached me. As soon as I get a copy I'll read it through & say what I can, Hawthorne's notice however seems to leave nothing to say. We are glad to know that Agnes' health is restored & that you are likely to get your holiday after all. Why not come to California? I am quite well all of us are. but as usual I make slow headway in pen work.
