Dear Charlie
I did not hear your very well in the phone yesterday. I guess you said that I was to be in time for dinner, & that you would meet me at the Berkeley Station & guide me. If so which boat should I take from San Francisco? I shall be very glad to meet Mrs [Forte?] & the Wheelers in what I hope is to be a quiet informal way Should I not appear at your hospitable cottage than mourn me lost in your town wilds
Sincerely yours John Muir
