My dear Millard:
Had I not been away in the Grand Canon of the Colorado I should have written long ago to thank you for your kind letter, Markham's poems, & the glowing appreciation of the painting of my old friend Keith - for all this & more. You need not be afraid of over praising Keith. I have known him & his work for over 30 years intimately & I feel sure that he is easily first
of the color poets of this side the continent. Markham's review of the Parks is the best I have seen - farseeing sympathetic, & original. And as to his grand poems I have too much to say for a letter Do come up & let us talk face to face. In the meantime many thanks.
Ever your friend
