My dear Mr Millard
Many thanks for Markham's Poems in which I expect to find many fine strong lines. As far as I am concerned you are welcome to as much as you like of my book; the more widely it is published & republished & echoed back & forth the better. But permission from Houghton Mifflin should be obtained as the firm controls selections etc though copyright is in my name. No doubt your request will be granted gladly. Hoping to see you ere long I am yours
sincerely John Muir
