[1901]

Mr. J. E. Stubbs,
University of Nevada,
Reno, Nevada.

My dear Sir:

On my last trip with the Sierra Club it was delightful To meet bright and merry bands of mountaineers in my old haunts in the High Sierra where so long I had wandered solitary. Prof. Martin I remember Well as one of the most questioners, and no doubt his lectures are now colored with mountain lore.
For your kind invitation to the University of Nevada I heartily thank you, and should fortune lead me to Reno I'll accept it gladly. With the best wishes,
Faithfully yours,

J. M.
