[First draft of letter, in note-book #59] (26)
[Dec.. 1901]
Dear Sir:
I am, as you know, heartily interested in the Sequoia and other national parks, their preservation, roads rendering them accessible, etc., and I have no doubt Captain Andrews has done his duty as Superintendent of the Seq[uoia] and Gen. Grant Nat. Parks. But as I have no personal knowledge of the reasons required by the President for the retention of Cap. Andrews, I am sorry to say it seems to disqualify me to act in the matter.
