My dear Mr. Muir: -
It was most thoughtful of you to send me a copy of you new book. Many of the beautiful essays which it contains I have read with real delight in the magazines, but now I shall take an added pleasure in meeting them between the covers of your book. You are doing a noble work in sending people to the hills and groves; in opening their eyes to the beauties of all living things which lie about

them, and in teaching them to know and love these things. May your book meet with all the success it deserves! It cannot fail to enrich the lives of all who read it. I trust you are all well and happy in this glorious holiday weather. Mrs Keeler joins me in loving greetings to you and yours.
Sincerely,
Charles Keeler
