Dear Mr. Muir,

As the time for the publication of your book, "Our National Parks", draws closer, we grow more interested to meet the date set for publication. The index, however, still remains to be done. We have sent you, I think, about 260 pages of proof, and if you have been able to keep up with the pages as they came there will remain not a great deal more to be done. The rest of the proof should come to you now within a few days, and we should be obliged if in sending it back you could also send us complete copy for the index and give us permission to read proof of the index here so as to save time.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. John Muir.
