thanking me for photographs of my taking
Martinez, March 27/01
My dear Mr Lukens.
The fine lot of tree photographs came the other day, for which I thank you very much. I never before saw photo of the Torrey pine. I hope your health is getting better & that Mrs Lukens will soon recover, we are very sorry to learn she is so ill - sickness seems to be common everywhere this winter & spring. I'm sorry to hear such bad news of poor Ned Carr. I wish I knew how to do anything for him. Tell your daughter Mrs Jones to read an article on writing in the April number of the Worlds Work. I think it is good. With many thanks & fondly hoping you will be happier soon
I am ever yours John Muir
