[First draft of letter, in note-book #59] [Jan. 1901]
[Jan. 1901]
My dear Prof. S[argent]:
I'm glad to see by the notices your publishers are sending out that the immortal Silva, index, Crataegus, and all, is done. Happy trees, happy hawthorns. They must now do their best, wave and bow and clap their leafy wands rejoicing.
With glorious congratulations,
Ever your admirer,
J. M.
