thanks for photos of my taking
Martinez. Jan. 23. 1901
My dear Lukens,
The handsome tree photos arrived yesterday & I shall add them to the Grand Album. The Muricata and [one?] of the Sabines are handsome trees & they are very hardy. They should be oftener planted in parks & gardens. So also should the Common Nut-Pine (monophylla) which when young forms a handsome broad cone.
Ever Yours John Muir
