I'm sorry this season has not been fruitful in haws, presenting the ending of your already long drawn out Crataegus chapter. But no doubt you had a grand trip notwithstanding the scarcity of Crataegus fruit and loneliness. Anyhow, you'll get no pity from me as long as you are free to wander in the glorious eastern forests. About how many more years are you going to give to Crataegus? You seem to count on longevity rivaling Sequoia. No doubt these famous little trees deserve all you are doing for them, but the space they are likely to fill in your book seems out of proportion to the rest.
I'm pegging away on the last of those park articles, with lots of other work looming ahead.
