Martinez, June 12,1909.
My dear Merriam,
I sent the ice M.S. today to Doubleday Page & Co. direct fearing you might be away in the field on summer work. The article is short-3000 words or so - I hope you will see the proof.
Grippe has only lately left me and I am so far behind with work promised Houghton Mifflin I don't know when I will be able to get into the wilderness this year.
Good luck to you -
Faithfully yours,
JOHN MUIR
