My dear Merriam
I've been useless on account of grippe for the last six weeks and of course all my writing is miserably behind time. I am now a little better and trying to write an article for the Atlantic long promised. As soon as I get it off my hands I'll try that ice sketch. How long can I have to write it? If it might be too late to be available there's no use bothering with the thing. It can only be a scrawny outline sketch at best. We saw so little of the glaciers as we whizzed past them. Let me know just what time and then I'll know what to do or try to do about the matter.
Ever cordially yours,
JOHN MUIR
