As [illegible] Garrya Praising my forestry work, tree planting
Martinez, Feb. 6, 1900.
My dear Mr. Lukens,
The bush of which you sent me a specimen is Garrya. It belongs to the dogwood family. There are four species in Cal. This is probably Garrya flavescens. I hope you will have grand success in your blessed work of pine planting. Remember me to all the family & believe me ever cordially Yours
