Home, Nov. 15. 1913.
Darling Helen
I'm glad you are getting well in spite of accidents of which there seems to be no end until death. I've been hoping your terrible experiences would at length make you cautious but alas, all seems in vain.
The Hetch Hetchy question will probably be decided in the first week of December next & I still think we will win. Anyhow I'll be relieved when it's settled for it's killing me. No matter I've had grand life in these divine mountains & I may well do something for those coming after me. Do try to make my load as light as possible by keeping well.
Your loving father
