Mr. John Muir,
Martinez, California,
Dear Sir:
In re Hetch Hetchy: I have written to our two N. Y. Senators, Root and O'Gorman, also to Senator Lippitt of R. I., a classmate of mine at Brown University, and to the President Wilson, expressing the hope that the measure passed by the House will not secure the approval of the Senate or the signature of the President.
With many others I am grateful for the enlightened and vigorous campaign you have waged for the preservation of this precious National asset.
With hopes for our ultimate success,
I am,
Faithfully yours,
[illegible]
Goldwin Smith Professor of Latin.
