Dear friend Mr. Muir.

I have been so ill for a month that I have been down stairs but three or four times_ However I am better now, and hope soon to be so much improved in health, that I can go to Los Angeles twice a week for electrical treatment, which I am told will benefit me. Thank you for the kindly feeling which

prompted you to offer me that beautiful set of your books, decribed by me in my last letter, but as I have those you gave me some time ago, and which I prize so very highly, I will not be so selfish as to take the other set. You know though, how much I appreciate your kindness in wishing to give them to me and again, I thank you.

It was good news to hear that you had taken a vacation, if only a short one. You needed it after your strenuous work for so many months. Now, no doubt, you will be busier than ever with the Hetch-Hetchy fight. I trust your hope of victory will be fulfilled. It has been a long fight. God bless you dear Mr. Muir.

Ever your true friend
