Dear Miss Stewart:
I sincerely thank you for your kind review of my little book and for tidings of your brother whom I knew well in the auld lang syne of our student days. As we grow old we cling all the more fondly to our old friends, & I'm always glad to hear from them.
I came to California from Havana Cuba in 1868 by way of the isthmus of Panama instead of the Plains, though in my studies, I have crossed the continent many times.
Should I find time to continue my autobiographical notes a good many volumes may be published.
With kind regards for your brother
I am faithfully yrs
