Dear Mr. Muir,
We have your letter of the 15th with the corrections for the story of “Poor Charlie” in “The Story of My Boyhood and Youth”. We are sorry to say that these corrections come too late for the first edition of the book which is already printed, but we are ordering them made for the second edition. We expect to publish the book on March 15th. We are using a portrait of you at a later period for the photogravure frontispiece, Since you were unable to find a contemporary photograph. We

[illegible] should be interested to see the one made in 1861, in case it ever comes to light, and could perhaps make some use of it in advertising or otherwise.
By the way, we believe we have never received back from you the contract for this book, which we sent for your signature in June, 1911. If youhave returned it, it may have been lost in the mails, but we shall be glad if you will be kind enough to look it up for us.
Very truly yours,
Houghton Mifflin Company.
