My dear Mr Muir:
The California goodies which you so kindly sent to contribute to the Merriam-Bailey supply of nutrient just missed Christmas and timely are continuing the good cheer into the winter. We have just opened the nuts & raisins and have divided with the Baileys - who and [arrd.?] a few days before Xmas.
How is Helen? Have been intending to write ever since my return, but have been under great pressure of work here & also have had to go on 2 trips to New York & New Haven. We hope she is entirely recovered and as frolicsome as ever.
A short time after my return from California I showed the President ten photographs of Hetch-Hetchy - yours & mine & some Colby gave me. He was

much interested in them and asked for them to show to Garfield - all of which seems for the good.
Are you not coming our way this winter?
Our love to you all and thanks for the goodies.
