Philadelphia, November 23, 1907.

Prof. John Muir,
Martinez,
California.

My dear Prof. Muir:

During a recent visit to Washington, Professor Fay personally invited Mr. Bryce to attend the annual dinner of the Club, to be held in Philadelphia on December 30th. The Ambassador was unable to accept so long in advance, but expressed his interest in the Club and a desire to attend if circumstances permitted. I trust we can count on your presence on that occasion.
I enclose for your consideration, the nomination of Prof. E. B. Delabarre of Brown University.
Prof. E. B. Delabarre was somewhat reluctant to have his name proposed as he has only one high peak to his credit; but after some correspondence with Prof. Fay and the undersigned, he has consented to become a candidate. In the opinion of Prof. Fay and the writer, his keen interest in mountaineering and record as a scientific traveller should count in his favor.

Yours very truly,

[illegible]
Secretary.
