My dear cousin Margaret
I was glad to get good tidings of your health & Maggie's from your letter of June 18th & Miss Hoffman's of the 20th. I thought it would be pleasant for you to hear direct from California through a friend of the family & so it has proved. & Miss Hoffman says she was charmed with her visit & was sorry it had to be made so short.
Wanda has a son two weeks old, a perfect wonder of course in every baby way. Helen is still gaining in strength & is a good housekeeper. Maggie Reid is better again & enjoys short rides & light garden work, Sarah also & David are well & all the rest of the family as far as I have heard.
Nothing would be more after my own heart than a visit to you this summer but I see no hope for it at present. It's almost impossible to get servants, & since Wanda left us only Helen & I are left in the family to care for everything. Still I have not given up hope of at least one more visit to you. In the meantime let me
