Mr. John Muir
Martinez, Cal.

My dear Muir:

Madame Modjeska and her husband, Count Bozenta, dined with us the other night and she told me that she was going to be in the Grand Canon in May, and it occurred to me that you would like to know this in case you were to be there in that month. They are going to live in Los Angeles and she wants very much to go this summer to the Yosemite valley, and I told her that if you were going up there you would be delighted to be of use to them. She spoke of Mrs. Muir with feeling and appreciation, and you know what a bond nationality is to the Poles. She also spoke of her great desire to meet you. You do not, of course, need any letter of introduction to them bat I think it would be mutually agreeable if you could hunt them up this summer. Certainly it would give me a great deal of pleasure to know that she could see the Yosemite under your guidance. She is a beautiful spirit.

Faithfully yours,
