Dear Mrs Bailey;
Many thanks for your kind letter & the grand photographs. I have not yet seen the Enchanted Mesa but can imagine it glowing in the wonderful plateau light. The aligator barked jumper & our Sierra species are my favorites of their sturdy old fashioned race.
In spite of rain & fog Helen has been gaining strength all winter & is in fine spirits. She is busy gardening & is making the old lovely home look better than ever She is a fine house keeper & brave & able in every way
Wanda & her husband wanted a home of their very own & have gone to the Adobe by the little Orange Grove - leaving Helen & me alone. H. has written to your charming uncle James & I will soon & I am with all good wishes faithfully yours John Muir
