My dear Professor,
I trust that neither your nor your family have suffered bodily or material loss thro the awful catastrophe which has happened at your door. If half the news our papers give about the damage by earthquake & fire is true then Fresco at present must be in an awful plight.
I hope to learn of your safety - With kind regards,
Yrs sincerely
And. McLennan

P.S. I took the liberty of sending you a small "BUN" for Xmas- I trust you received it safely and enjoyed it for "auld lang syne". I guess your family would not enjoy it seeing they did not appreciate Scotch Shortbread.
