Dear Mr. Muir,
We take much pleasure in enclosing the usual half-yearly statement showing the sales of your books during the past six months, together with a check to balance the account.
We have asked Mr. B. H. Ticknor, Jr to give himself the pleasure of calling upon you. He is one of the members of our staff, and will be in California next month. We have told him that we should be greatly interested to know if we may look forward to the pleasure of publishing one of the books which you had in hand when you last wrote to us. The one we believe you were then discussing with Mr. Gilder, and the other, if we remember correctly, was on Alaska. We need not assure you how heartily we should appreciate the opportunity of publishing either of these books.
With kindest regards,
Yours very sincerely,
[illegible]
Mr. John Muir.
