Prof. John Muir,
Martinez, Cal.

My dear Prof. Muir:-

At the last meeting of the Board of Directors - President Roosevelt's name was proposed for Hon. membership - He is already an Honorary member of the English Alpine Club and is said to be eligible under our rules, to membership in our organization. All the other members of the Board have assented to his election; but we have not yet had any expression of opinion from you. As our By-Laws require that Honorary members must receive the unanimous vote of all the Board, his election is delayed pending word from you. May I therefore ask you to sign your name to the typewritten form of vote which was sent you some weeks ago.

With kind regards, believe me,
Very truly yours,

[illegible]
Secretary.
