Albuquerque, N. M., Dec. 21 1905
Dear Mr Johnson
I am glad to hear you are to have a good Italian vacation You have earned It many times over. Good luck to you & thanks for your kind thoughts of me & my girls. Helen is still in Arizona & will be probably for a year longer when we hope she will be as well as ever thanks to the dry plateau air Both Wanda & I are with her most of the time, & I am trying to make the most of my opportunities to study the petrified forests adjacent to Adamana. A half dozen or more thousand acre areas are strewn thickly with huge agate trunks millions of years old.
I am in Albuquerque only for the day. My address is still Martinez as I have to go back to the desolate home occasionally on business I congratulate you on your grand-daughter. Remember me to Agnes & Mrs Johnson & the Gilders & believe me with best wishes ever faithfully yours
