My dear Muir:
I am following your advice and going off this winter to see some fresh aspects of vegetation. Robeson and I are sailing from New York on the 25th of this month for Panama and Valparaiso, then, after passing some time in Chili, cross the continent to Buenos Ayres and return home by the way of Europe?. I should like to hear before I leave home how you are getting on. Please send me a line by return mail, or, if there is not time for that, write me in care of Gracil & Company, Valparaiso, Chili. I want very much to hear that you and your daughter are well again. I want to get away from Crataegus and cold weather, and to see something new.
Faithfully yours,
[illegible]John Muir, Esq.,
