My dear Sir – I send you another specimen of the Raillardia to which you refer as new, that is of the one which I think answers to your description. I cant recollect its exact locality – but it was found in the high Sierra above Yosemite somewhere. I showed it to Gray when he was here & he then called it R, Scaposa. I will sit out in a month or six weeks for another seasons exploration in the northern half of the range & though my pursuit will be chiefly geology I will endeavor to do some little for you in plants I am yrs cordially John Muir
