Dear Mr & Mrs Bailey:

We all thank you very much for your kind letter of sympathy. It has helped to cheer our loneliness. Helen is much better, & with Wanda, the strong & able takes long 30 mile rides without fatigue. I too am resting here after the strain of these last eventful months. It is not true, as far as I know, that I have been "critically ill" as reported in the newspapers - only deadly stunningly tired, & soon I hope to take up my ordinary work.
With kindest regards

faithfully gratefully yours

John Muir
