Dear Muir:
We are all greatly distressed by a report that you are sick, and that Helen is also. This is sent rather at a venture - I hope it reaches you. Have Wanda let me know exactly how things stand. Can we do anything? If I could help, I would ask leave of absence and run over to you. Would do so anyhow were it not for the conditions here in the Library, but if I can serve you, I'll do it at any hazard.
God be with you.
Your friend,
Chas. F. Lummis
