Dear Mr. Magee:
I thank you very much for your kind letter of invitation to the Dr. Van Dyke dinner. But though I am of course anxious to accept, I am by no means sure that I can. I am trying to finish a piece of work that will not wait. It would have been off my hands before this, had my time not bean so miserably broken up by the Yosemite recession bill.
